At launch with a similar price with the Porsche Boxster S, the E46 M3 was streets ahead in performance, challenging the mighty Porsche 911 and Audi RS4. The car was designed with a wider-track with big wheel arches and a massive front spoiler. Under the bonnet there was a 3.2-litre straight-six engineered by the BMW’s M division to generate 343bhp at 7900rpm and 269lb ft at 4900rpm.

Updated technology meant that ABS, switchable Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control and Traction Control systems were standard. The sound from the quad exhausts gives a hint to the potential speed and sound of this E46

Although the car was heavier than its predecessor due to upgraded equipment and leather interior. BMW used lots of aluminium to keep the weight down especially in the bonnet and brake calipers as well as suspension components.

As a package, it was a great success triumph – the original M3 grown up to be bigger and better. All cars were officially limited to 155mph, with the 0-62 coming in at 5.5 seconds just a shade quicker than the E36 despite the weight increase.

This car is presented in a striking factory colour of Estoril Blue and comes with a stunning looking hardtop for those UK winter months. The odometer indicates 65,412 miles from new.

It was supplied new via BMW dealer Sytner Chelsea, and its current owner bought it as an investment. This car presents in good cosmetic condition. As you can be appreciated by the photos of the car.

Filling the wheel arches are the original 19-inch ‘MV alloy wheels, which are all in great order. The car has 2 x Continental Sport on the rear and 2 x Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on the front and all with good tread on them.

The exterior plastic trim and rubber seals around the car have been either renewed or refurbished as needed to bring the appearance up to show-quality standards. All of the light lenses are OEM items in superb condition.

Inside the seats are upholstered in Grey Nappa leather. The leather itself is in great shape throughout, with no rips or tears, and only very moderate wear present to the driver’s seat. This seat would benefit from a repair to bring the car up to same standard as the rest of the seats. Its three-spoke M Sport multi-function steering wheel steering wheel is original to the car, and shows no real signs of wear.

Its last MOT was in December 2020, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories.

Accompanying the car is the original BMW leather document pouch, housing the owner’s handbook, service directory, radio user guide. The factory-supplied toolkit is still present and complete.

The history file is extensive, comprising of a BMW service book and service receipts.
