Fiat Stilo Schumacher. AUCTION FINISHED
Michael Schumacher Fiat Stilo special series made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2004 and they launched the new limited edition version of the Fiat Stilo in 1995. Dubbed the Stilo Schumacher it was aimed as a competitor for the Ford Focus ST170 and the Vauxhall Astra SRi Turbo. Its 2.4-litre 20V turbocharged engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. It generates170bhp with a top speed of 134mph and a 0-62 time of 8.5 secs.
It was created as a tribute to Michael Schumacher’s fifth consecutive Formula One World Championship Driver’s title with Ferrari. The Schumacher is a limited edition of 200 RHD units all in Ferrari red.
The 170bhp five cylinder three-door hatch gets:
A specially commissioned bodykit
Exclusive kick plates and pedals
A powerful hi-fi sound system with steering wheel audio controls, CD, MP3 player and subwoofer
ABS anti-lock braking
ESP and traction control
Dual zone climate control
A special plaque numbered from UK001 to UK200.
This car is numbered 49/200 and is one the GP prodrive cars
In addition to the standard kit above, Fiat said that "a unique UK-based chassis development programme was undertaken to bring the car to the level of best in class. Carried out in conjunction with Prodrive, the globally acclaimed, high profile UK specialist automotive engineering concern, this intensive programme has led to the production of an aftermarket handling package known as the Stilo GP kit."
The Prodrive-developed GP kit consists of:
Front and rear road springs manufactured by Eibach
Bilstein front struts and rear dampers
7 x 18-inch OZ Superturismo alloy wheels
A stainless steel rear silencer with twin outlet pipes.
The extra cost when new of the GP version was £1,000 more
Today, its bodywork and paint are reported to be in good condition for its make and mileage. In our opinion a really good valet and a little tlc this could make a cherished possession. There are no signs of major damage, but there is a small amount of paint missing on the rear below the wiper, as shown in pictures. This is the only unsightly blemishes in the Rosso Corsa finish. The Zender body kit gives this Stilo a purposeful stance, with revised front and rear bumpers, deeper sills, and a subtle roof spoiler. Rather than being given some garish vinyl decals, the only nod to the inspiration for the model are the discreet black and silver plaques at the trailing ends of the side skirts, showing the car as an ‘MS Limited Edition’. It rides on the upgraded 18” OZ alloys, which are in great shape with no damage.
In the cabin, the smart black and grey upholstery is in superb order, with only modest signs of use on the driver’s seat. A silver plaque on the centre of the dashboard confirms that it is car number 49 of the limited run. The factory features include a sporting metal pedal set, white instrument dials, and a multi-function steering wheel. There are no reported faults, and all of the switchgear is said to work as it should.
The maintenance record was comprehensive up until 2010 and 29,000 miles with a mixture of Fiat dealers and independent services. The car has only 48,000 miles on it now, but we have no paperwork for any history in the last few years.
