Subaru Impreza WRX UK300. AUCTION FINISHED
Subaru Impreza UK300 Limited Edition is a great example of one of the most iconic contemporary performance cars. When Subaru developed its WRC car, it did so with the help of a UK-based company called Prodrive. The new Impreza UK300 is another joint development between Subaru and Prodrive, a sort of rally car for the street.
Incorrectly a lot of people thought the UK300 has reached the magical 300bhp (hence the name) or was it just a clever marketing ploy? .The UK300 was a limited run of only 300 cars producing 248 bhp up from 218bhp on the standard model. Currently there are only 220 left and these numbers are only going to go one way.
The UK300 only came in WR Mica Blue and can be distinguished aesthetically by the new gloss black headlamps, front and (massive) rear spoilers (which effectively reduce lift), the 18-inch gold wheels and sole available colour: the blue show above. The interior also receives some touch ups, including blue suede bucket seats with matching door inserts, carpeting and mats.
The UK300 also boasts gold-coloured OZ 10-spoke alloy wheels measuring 18 ins by 7.5 ins. These are shod with Nexens on the front with around 6mm remaining and Dunlop Sport on the rear with 3mm remaining. These are up from the standard WRX’s already generous 17 x 7 ins alloys with 215/45 tyres. Other exterior enhancements include white side indicators and white front markers.
Inside, the UK300 features blue suede-effect seats - the front being the rally-style bucket type - plus matching door inserts. The potential collector’s car also has special deep-pile carpet and boot mats plus a limited edition numbered plaque.
Not only the exterior and interior are upgraded but the engine was fitted with the Prodrive WR Sport package. The secret to the £1,600 Prodrive WR Sport performance pack option is a reprogrammed Electronic Control Unit (ECU), uprated intercooler piping and free-flow exhaust system with a large single tailpipe. Both power and torque have benefitted from the package with a power increase from 218 bhp to 24

The car has an excellent service history file. For the first 7 years on the road in particular, it was very maintained through Subaru main dealers in Hertfordshire. Over the last 10 years, the car has been driven more sparingly, but is presented in fine mechanical condition, but there are receipts and stamps for 10 services since new.
This particular example was first registered in June 2001, supplied by Quenby Brothers LTD in Hertfordshire, and there are 4 previous registered keepers on the log book. The current owner acquired the car seven months ago, and has enjoyed a few hundred miles on the road. As an enthusiast with a broad collection of modern classics, he has other vehicles taking priority, so is now offering it for sale to another Impreza fan to experience.
The bodywork is in very good condition, with good shut lines and panel gaps, and there is a clear HPI report on file for additional peace of mind. The OZ Racing alloy wheels and are in great condition.
In the cabin, the seats are upholstered in the original textured cloth and synthetic suede. They show some very modest wear and slight fading of the fabric, but in general present very well indeed. There is no damage to any of the interior features, which - apart from the Pioneer stereo head unit which has been replaced with an aftermarket version but still in keeping with the aesthetics of the car. It still has the leather-trimmed gear knob, handbrake grip, and Momo steering wheel.
Accompanying the car is the original literature pouch, including the owner’s manual, and the stamped warranty and service booklet. There is also a very good history file containing a raft of old invoices and receipts for previous maintenance work.
This Subaru Impreza Uk300 is a coveted modern classic, boasting seriously impressive performance. It is presented in superb cosmetic and mechanical condition throughout, and is arguably even more desirable as it remains original and unmodified
